About Life360

Life360’s mission is to keep people close to the ones they love. Our category-leading mobile app,Tile tracking devices, and Pet GPS tracker empower members to protect the people, pets, and things they care about most with a range of services, including location sharing, safe driver reports, and crash detection with emergency dispatch. Life360 serves approximately 95.8 million monthly active users (MAU), as of December 31, 2025, across more than 180 countries.

Life360 delivers peace of mind and enhances everyday family life with seamless coordination for all the moments that matter, big and small. By continuing to innovate and deliver for our customers, we have become a household name and the must-have mobile-based membership for families (and those friends who are basically family).

Life360 has more than 500 (and growing!) remote-first employees. For more information, please visit life360.com.

Life360 is a Remote First company, which means a remote work environment will be the primary experience for all employees. All positions, unless otherwise specified, can be performed remotely (within the US and Canada) regardless of any specified location above.

We are AI Native

We are building an AI native company where AI is an integral part of how we build and operate. AI tool usage during interviews varies by role. You may be asked to demonstrate proficiency with AI tools, discuss how you leverage AI, or complete interview exercises without AI assistance. Your Recruiter will provide clear guidance as you move through the interview process.

Undisclosed use of AI not previously discussed with or approved by your Recruiter may impact your candidacy.

About The Team

The AI Lab is a small, founder-led team operating like a zero-to-one startup inside Life360, building the company’s next chapter. Our mission is to transform Life360 from the app you open to find your family into an intelligent operating system families rely on daily. We design and build an AI-powered layer on top of our family graph, leveraging our core location technologies and global 100 million-user base to proactively surface what matters across location, schedules, and everyday life.

About the Job

This role is hard to title because the lines between engineering, design, and product blur fast when you are building the way we are building. The closest description is design-oriented builder. You have a strong aesthetic sense and real opinions about how a product should feel. You can take a loose idea and make it tangible before anyone has finished writing the spec. You understand the value of a polished user experience in the context of agentic software and how to deliver one.

You work directly with design, product, and the founder. You are part of the creative process, not downstream of it. The work is not "here is a Figma, build it." The work is "here is a rough idea, what does the first working version look like by the end of day, and what do we learn when we put it in front of someone."

You thrive without traditional specs and get real energy out of shipping something new every day. Energy and momentum matter as much as skill.

For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $190,000 to $280,000 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $220,000 to $260,000 CAD. Note: Please be aware that the job title for positions in Canada will be "Developer" in lieu of "Engineer." We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.

What You’ll Do

  • Take rough ideas (sketches, voice memos, half-finished docs) and turn them into something real and clickable, fast. The first version is usually the same day.
  • Build prototypes for the surfaces that make the product tangible: the map, widgets, Live Activities, voice, in-app moments where information surfaces automatically. Some will ship. Most will get thrown away. Both outcomes are useful.
  • Make tasteful UI calls without waiting for design to spec every pixel. Design refines. You get it 80% there.
  • Sit in the room when product direction gets debated. Push back when something doesn't feel right. We need engineers who are part of the conversation, not waiting for the output.
  • Use AI tooling aggressively. Orchestrate agents to generate code, write tests, and review your work. The whole point of this team is that a small group with the right tools outperforms a much larger one.
  • Ship to test groups, watch how people actually use what you built, iterate. The feedback loop is short and you are inside it.

What We’re Looking For

If there's one trait we need above all others, it's self-starter energy. As we've gotten bigger, we've been more open to roles with clearly defined schedules and processes. That doesn't work in a startup. We need people on founder hours, not office hours — with a huge desire to win. You'll be a cofounder of this initiative.

  • You operate without a spec. You'd rather have a conversation, a sketch, and 24 hours than a 30-page PRD and a week.
  • You ship every day (or close to it). Not "make progress." Ship. Even rough. Even ugly. Momentum matters more than polish at this stage. You're comfortable showing it before it's ready and letting it get torn apart in service of getting to the right thing.
  • You push for more. You won't wait to be told what to do. You demand excellence of yourself and the people around you.
  • You hold strong opinions and change them when the evidence moves. You push back. You concede fast when wrong.
  • You're a customer of what we build. Try it if you haven't.

The bar

  • Deep experience building consumer mobile or web products that real people use. You know what good feels like on a phone, and you know how it fails.
  • Zero-to-one stage experience and the desire to do it again.
  • Taste. You can articulate why one design works and another doesn't. You have references. You notice details other people miss.
  • You can move from a blank screen to a working prototype without anyone holding your hand. Specs make you slower, not faster.
  • Deep in at least one of React, Swift, or Kotlin — and comfortable shipping in another. You don't treat the platform as someone else's problem.
  • AI-native in your daily workflow. Hands-on with Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent. Deep experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, context window management, MCP / function calling.

Bonus

  • Map-based or location-driven product work. You understand the design problems unique to spatial UI.

Our Benefits

  • Competitive pay and benefits.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans (100% paid for US employees). We offer supplemental plans for medical and dental for Canadian employees.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching program in the US and RRSP with DPSP plan for Canadian employees.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental wellness.
  • Flexible PTO and 12 company wide days off throughout the year.
  • Learning & Development programs.
  • Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment.
  • Free Life360 Platinum Membership for your preferred circle.

Expert Career Tips for Staff AI Builder (AI Native Mobile Engineer), Family AI Lab Roles

To succeed in a competitive market as a Staff AI Builder (AI Native Mobile Engineer), Family AI Lab, you need more than just technical skills. Here are some expert strategies to elevate your profile:

  • Build a Strong Portfolio: For technical roles, a clean GitHub or a personal project site is essential. For non-technical roles, a case study portfolio demonstrating problem-solving and impact is equally valuable. Show, don't just tell, what you have achieved in your previous positions.
  • Master the Narrative: When interviewing, use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers. Quantify your results wherever possible—mentioning "increased efficiency by 20%" is much more impactful than saying "improved efficiency."
  • Continuous Learning: The industry moves fast. Whether it's staying updated with the latest AI tools or mastering a new management methodology, continuous professional development is key. Consider obtaining industry-recognized certifications that align with Staff AI Builder (AI Native Mobile Engineer), Family AI Lab requirements.
  • Networking: Connect with other professionals in similar roles. Join online communities, attend webinars, and engage in meaningful discussions on professional social networks. Often, the best opportunities come through referrals and community engagement.
  • Soft Skills Matter: Communication, empathy, and leadership are often the deciding factors between two equally qualified technical candidates. Cultivate these skills as they are universally valued across all industries and seniority levels.

Additionally, research the specific company's culture and values. Tailoring your application to show how you align with their mission can significantly increase your chances of moving forward in the process.

Comprehensive Application Strategy & Hiring Process

Applying for a new role is a marathon, not a sprint. Follow this strategic approach to maximize your success rate:

1. Initial Research & Tailoring

Don't send the same resume to every employer. Spend at least 30 minutes researching the company. Look for recent news, their product roadmap, and their team structure. Modify your summary and core competencies to reflect the specific keywords found in the job description.

2. The Perfect Cover Letter

If the application allows for a cover letter, use it to tell a story that your resume cannot. Explain why you are passionate about this specific company and how your unique background makes you the perfect fit for the challenges they are currently facing.

3. Navigating the Multi-Stage Interview

Most modern hiring processes involve 3-5 stages. This typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical or skill-based assessment, a peer interview, and a final leadership round. Prepare for each stage differently: focus on enthusiasm and fit for the recruiter, technical depth for the assessment, and strategic vision for the leadership round.

4. Post-Interview Follow-Up

Always send a personalized thank-you note within 24 hours of each interview. Reference a specific topic discussed during the call to demonstrate your active listening and genuine interest in the role.

By following these steps, you demonstrate a high level of professionalism and attention to detail that sets you apart from the average applicant.

Typical Interview Process

  1. Resume screening
  2. HR call
  3. Skill interview
  4. Final manager interview
  5. Offer

Tip: Research the company's products and culture.

Global Market Intelligence & Relocation Insights

At JobSetuu, we specialize in helping talent navigate the global job market. Here is what you need to know about the current landscape in Global and beyond:

The demand for skilled professionals is increasingly borderless. For roles based in Global, understanding the local cost of living, visa requirements (if applicable), and cultural nuances is vital. If this is a remote role, consider the time zone alignment and the asynchronous communication culture of the hiring organization.

Relocation Support: Many forward-thinking companies offer relocation packages that include moving stipends, temporary housing, and legal assistance with work permits. When evaluating an offer, look beyond the base salary—consider the total compensation package, including equity, bonuses, and healthcare benefits.

Work-Life Balance Trends: Hybrid and remote work have become standard in many regions. Research the local labor laws and common practices regarding work hours and vacation time to ensure the role aligns with your lifestyle goals.

Leveraging JobSetuu's tools can help you compare salaries across different cities and understand the "purchasing power" of your potential offer, ensuring you make an informed decision for your long-term career path.

Skills & Competency Roadmap for Professional Development

To remain competitive in Professional Development, we recommend focusing on the following core competencies over the next 12-18 months:

  • Technical Mastery: Deepen your expertise in the core tools and languages relevant to your field. For developers, this might be cloud architecture; for marketers, it might be data-driven attribution modeling.
  • AI Augmentation: Learn how to leverage generative AI and automation tools to increase your productivity. Understanding how to integrate these technologies into your workflow is becoming a non-negotiable skill.
  • Leadership & Strategy: Even in individual contributor roles, the ability to think strategically and lead projects from inception to completion is highly valued. Focus on stakeholder management and high-level project planning.
  • Data Literacy: The ability to interpret data and use it to drive decisions is essential across all business functions. Familiarize yourself with data visualization and basic analytical concepts.

By investing in these areas, you not only prepare yourself for the role you are applying for today but also build a resilient foundation for the opportunities of tomorrow.
