Job Description
Who we are
Employment Hero is on a mission to make employment easier and more valuable for everyone. Our Employment Operating System brings hiring, HR, payroll and benefits into an all-in-one solution.
Since our inception in 2014, we’ve scaled to a $2 billion valuation and gained a presence in 6 countries globally - Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK and Canada. We now service over 350,000 businesses and more than 2 million employees.
The EH Way
At Employment Hero, we’re proud of our unique DNA, which we call The EH Way.
- We are Mission First - everything we do (from what we work on, to how we allocate capital and where we focus) is driven by our Mission
- We are Remote First - we champion a remote environment with a preference for asynchronous communication and a high degree of autonomy
- We are AI First - we are committed to using AI to accelerate our mission; AI is not just a tool, it’s a fundamental part of how we operate, innovate, and scale
- We are Apolitical - we do not take a position on political or social topics, unless it relates to our Mission
- We Live by Our Values - we role model our values 100% of the time
- We Expect High Performance - we set a high standard and we’re not satisfied with being average
This role
Search is changing faster than it ever has. AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and generative answers are reshaping how people find information — and how brands win or lose visibility. At Employment Hero, we're not watching that shift from the sidelines.
We're hiring an SEO Specialist who takes genuine ownership of organic performance across four markets, someone who thinks commercially, works autonomously, and leads execution across people and platforms, not just tools. You understand that getting a brand cited in an AI-generated answer is becoming just as strategic as ranking #1 on Google, and you've already started thinking about how to get there.
This is a hands-on, multi-region role covering Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Canada. You'll work closely with our Global SEO Lead to execute and evolve our global organic strategy, spanning technical SEO, content, link building, and GEO, and help shape how Employment Hero shows up across both traditional and AI-driven search surfaces.
If you've built Claude workflows that replaced hours of manual work, check Perplexity to see how your brand is described, and can connect organic traffic to pipeline — this role was written for you.
This will include
- Run technical SEO audits across Employment Hero's websites, own the fix pipeline, and manage freelancers and suppliers to get changes shipped
- Monitor GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, and SEMrush for traffic fluctuations and strategic signals — and translate algorithm updates and AI search shifts into actionable strategy
- Write research-backed content briefs for internal writers, leading keyword research, content gap analysis, and topical authority building across the content and brand team
- Build and optimise landing pages with design and CRO, balancing UX, conversion performance, and on-page SEO
- Lead backlink outreach end-to-end: prospecting, editor relationships, link reclamation, and guest post quality control
- Own Employment Hero's GEO programme — tracking citation share across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews using tools like Profound or Otterly, and applying entity optimisation and content structure to move the needle
- Build repeatable AI-powered workflows using Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and others to automate audits, keyword clustering, brief generation, and reporting — daily use, not occasional experimentation
- Report on commercial impact (pipeline and revenue, not just traffic), contribute to weekly and monthly SEO reporting, and help make the function more scalable through smart tooling and process design
Who you are
To thrive at Employment Hero, you’ll need to embody The EH Way - operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you’ll also bring
- 3–5 years in a dedicated SEO role — agency, B2B SaaS, or marketplace background preferred
- Proven organic results you can walk through with specifics: traffic, rankings, and pipeline or revenue impact
- Strong technical foundations across crawlability, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, schema, and log file analysis
- Fluent in Ahrefs, GSC, GA4, Screaming Frog, and SEMrush
- Experience coordinating link building campaigns and managing freelancers or suppliers to get execution done — not just running platforms solo
- Daily, habitual use of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar) — this is a qualifying criterion; at least one repeatable AI-powered workflow you've built and can demonstrate
- Able to report on organic performance in commercial terms: pipeline contribution and revenue influence, not just traffic and rankings
- Clear communicator who can brief a writer, present data to a stakeholder, and explain algorithm changes to a non-technical team — and self-directed enough to own your output in a remote-first environment
What we can offer
At Employment Hero, we don’t just talk about a better way to work - we live it. Joining Employment Hero means
- You will work remotely, with the flexibility to own your time and impact
- You will access cutting-edge tools to amplify your work, knowledge and outputs
- You’ll surround yourself with ambitious, outcome-driven colleagues who challenge you to do the best work of your life
- You’ll own ESOP (employee share options) in one of the world’s fastest-growing tech companies
- You’ll also have access to a wide range of benefits that includes - a very generous parental leave policy, subsidised egg freezing (so you can make the choice that’s right for you, on your terms), a WFH office expense budget, and outstanding learning & development opportunities
- Annual Global Gathering - so far we’ve been to Thailand, Vietnam, Bali, Dubai and are excited to meet in Gold Coast in Australia in September 2026
We’re AI-first, so you may meet some of our AI tools early in the process. They help us cut the noise, surface great talent fast and make sure every candidate gets a fair, consistent experience. We verify candidate identity and location as part of our hiring process.

Expert Career Tips for SEO / GEO Specialist Roles
To succeed in a competitive market as a SEO / GEO Specialist, you need more than just technical skills. Here are some expert strategies to elevate your profile:
- Build a Strong Portfolio: For technical roles, a clean GitHub or a personal project site is essential. For non-technical roles, a case study portfolio demonstrating problem-solving and impact is equally valuable. Show, don't just tell, what you have achieved in your previous positions.
- Master the Narrative: When interviewing, use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers. Quantify your results wherever possible—mentioning "increased efficiency by 20%" is much more impactful than saying "improved efficiency."
- Continuous Learning: The industry moves fast. Whether it's staying updated with the latest AI tools or mastering a new management methodology, continuous professional development is key. Consider obtaining industry-recognized certifications that align with SEO / GEO Specialist requirements.
- Networking: Connect with other professionals in similar roles. Join online communities, attend webinars, and engage in meaningful discussions on professional social networks. Often, the best opportunities come through referrals and community engagement.
- Soft Skills Matter: Communication, empathy, and leadership are often the deciding factors between two equally qualified technical candidates. Cultivate these skills as they are universally valued across all industries and seniority levels.
Additionally, research the specific company's culture and values. Tailoring your application to show how you align with their mission can significantly increase your chances of moving forward in the process.

Comprehensive Application Strategy & Hiring Process
Applying for a new role is a marathon, not a sprint. Follow this strategic approach to maximize your success rate:
1. Initial Research & Tailoring
Don't send the same resume to every employer. Spend at least 30 minutes researching the company. Look for recent news, their product roadmap, and their team structure. Modify your summary and core competencies to reflect the specific keywords found in the job description.
2. The Perfect Cover Letter
If the application allows for a cover letter, use it to tell a story that your resume cannot. Explain why you are passionate about this specific company and how your unique background makes you the perfect fit for the challenges they are currently facing.
3. Navigating the Multi-Stage Interview
Most modern hiring processes involve 3-5 stages. This typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical or skill-based assessment, a peer interview, and a final leadership round. Prepare for each stage differently: focus on enthusiasm and fit for the recruiter, technical depth for the assessment, and strategic vision for the leadership round.
4. Post-Interview Follow-Up
Always send a personalized thank-you note within 24 hours of each interview. Reference a specific topic discussed during the call to demonstrate your active listening and genuine interest in the role.
By following these steps, you demonstrate a high level of professionalism and attention to detail that sets you apart from the average applicant.
Typical Interview Process
- Resume screening
- HR call
- Skill interview
- Final manager interview
- Offer
Tip: Research the company's products and culture.
Global Market Intelligence & Relocation Insights
At JobSetuu, we specialize in helping talent navigate the global job market. Here is what you need to know about the current landscape in Global and beyond:
The demand for skilled professionals is increasingly borderless. For roles based in Global, understanding the local cost of living, visa requirements (if applicable), and cultural nuances is vital. If this is a remote role, consider the time zone alignment and the asynchronous communication culture of the hiring organization.
Relocation Support: Many forward-thinking companies offer relocation packages that include moving stipends, temporary housing, and legal assistance with work permits. When evaluating an offer, look beyond the base salary—consider the total compensation package, including equity, bonuses, and healthcare benefits.
Work-Life Balance Trends: Hybrid and remote work have become standard in many regions. Research the local labor laws and common practices regarding work hours and vacation time to ensure the role aligns with your lifestyle goals.
Leveraging JobSetuu's tools can help you compare salaries across different cities and understand the "purchasing power" of your potential offer, ensuring you make an informed decision for your long-term career path.
Skills & Competency Roadmap for Professional Development
To remain competitive in Professional Development, we recommend focusing on the following core competencies over the next 12-18 months:
- Technical Mastery: Deepen your expertise in the core tools and languages relevant to your field. For developers, this might be cloud architecture; for marketers, it might be data-driven attribution modeling.
- AI Augmentation: Learn how to leverage generative AI and automation tools to increase your productivity. Understanding how to integrate these technologies into your workflow is becoming a non-negotiable skill.
- Leadership & Strategy: Even in individual contributor roles, the ability to think strategically and lead projects from inception to completion is highly valued. Focus on stakeholder management and high-level project planning.
- Data Literacy: The ability to interpret data and use it to drive decisions is essential across all business functions. Familiarize yourself with data visualization and basic analytical concepts.
By investing in these areas, you not only prepare yourself for the role you are applying for today but also build a resilient foundation for the opportunities of tomorrow.
