At our company, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our dedicated team. The role is pivotal in developing innovative Decision-Intelligence-Software that assists organizations in transparently identifying dependencies, evaluating decision scenarios, and making informed decisions based on verifiable logic and assumptions.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing backend components for the visualization of dependencies, evaluation of scenarios, and support for reasoning and planning workflows.
- Building clear APIs, data structures, and interfaces for seamless integration of Engine components and future enhancements.
- Translating algorithmic concepts and architectural designs into reliable and scalable software, including making informed decisions regarding whether to develop from scratch or integrate existing tools.
- Ensuring the quality and performance of components through automated testing, benchmarking, debugging, and profiling to guarantee accuracy and performance.
- Developing diagnostic tools and structures to make results traceable to inputs, models, and assumptions, allowing for clear documentation and analysis.
- Translating customer application scenarios with the Product team into technical requirements and reusable improvements for core components.
- Collaborating with the engineering team to set up code reviews, documentation, and deployment workflows for a clean codebase.
Requirements:
- Completed studies in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or a comparable technical qualification.
- Strong programming skills in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Go, Rust) with experience working with existing codebases.
- Fundamentals of algorithms, data structures, software design, and automated testing.
- Experience in API design and working with data storage and data processing systems, considering performance and reliability parameters.
- The ability to decompose complex and unclear problems, evaluate alternatives, and deliver reliable software increments.
- Excellent command of both German and English in speech and writing, with a passion for iterative development and teamwork.
We are particularly interested in candidates with the following skills:
- Experience with graph-based systems or knowledge representation
- Proficiency in planning, scheduling, or optimization
- Expertise in rule engines or constraint solvers
- Experience integrating machine learning or language learning models (LLMs)
- Experience converting research prototypes into production-ready systems
