Lead Product Designer
We are seeking a visionary and skilled Lead Product Designer to join our dynamic team at the forefront of innovation and design excellence. Reporting to the Director of Design, you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of product design strategies that align with our company's mission and goals. This role requires a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, strategic design thinking, and a commitment to excellence in every project you undertake.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Visioning and Direction:
- Develop comprehensive design strategies that align with the company's overall business goals.
- Lead cross-functional teams in defining product design requirements and translating them into actionable design solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify design challenges and recommend innovative solutions.
2. User-Centered Design:
- Conduct thorough research to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points.
- Create detailed user journey maps and personas to guide the design process.
- Implement user-centered design principles throughout the design process to ensure intuitive and effective user experiences.
3. Design Systems:
- Develop and maintain a robust design system that supports consistent and scalable design across multiple products.
- Create design guidelines and design tokens to ensure consistency in design across the product portfolio.
- Collaborate with developers and designers to create cohesive design systems.
4. Design Tooling and Process:
- Leverage design tools and techniques to streamline design processes and ensure efficiency.
- Develop and refine design workflows to improve productivity and maintain a high level of quality.
- Work closely with product managers and engineers to ensure designs are practical and feasible.
5. Innovation and Creativity:
- Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging creativity and experimentation within the design team.
- Lead design challenges and provide guidance to teams to inspire and stimulate new ideas.
- Continuously explore new design technologies and methods to enhance design capabilities.
6. Project Leadership:
- Lead design projects from conception to execution, ensuring all design elements align with the project's goals and objectives.
- Provide mentorship to junior designers and designers on the team.
- Collaborate with design leads and designers from other teams to ensure a seamless design experience across all products.
7. Analytics and Performance:
- Use analytics tools to measure the impact of design decisions and user feedback.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure designs meet user expectations and performance benchmarks.
- Provide regular design performance reports to the design team and executive leadership.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in product design, with a significant focus on cross-functional collaboration and innovation.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of projects and successful design outcomes.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, and InVision.
- Experience with design systems, design language, and design patterns.
- Excellent leadership skills, ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and present design ideas.
- Experience with design research methods, user testing, and usability testing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
- Familiarity with Agile design methodologies and software development processes.
