Are you seeking a challenging and innovative role that pushes the boundaries of design? Lightspeed, a global leader in commerce and technology, is currently seeking a Staff Product Designer to join our Retail Point-of-Sale Design Team in Montreal. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about simplifying complex workflows and elevating the user experience across a wide range of products that tens of thousands of merchants rely on.
This role is perfect for a designer who thrives on solving hard problems and finding elegant solutions within established systems. You will be responsible for designing core point-of-sale experiences from end-to-end, including problem framing, polishing, and shipping products. Your work will have a significant impact on the quality and outcomes of these products, and you will be accountable for their success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing point-of-sale experiences that simplify complex workflows without breaking established systems.
- Mentoring other designers, raising the bar through critique, and bringing a fresh perspective that makes work better.
- Driving research and testing with real merchants to validate decisions and improve product direction.
- Participating in cross-functional partnerships with engineering teams to navigate technical constraints and still ship great work.
- Grounding decisions in evidence by testing with merchants and driving patterns and improvements back into the design system.
- Using AI tools to explore, prototype, and validate faster, and modelling new ways of working for the team.
Strong experience and skills are essential, including:
- 8+ years of product design experience at product-driven tech companies with measurable impact on shipped products.
- A portfolio that showcases strong fundamentals, polished UI craft, and complex workflows made simple.
- Experience designing for mature, at-scale products and the judgment to know when to simplify, modernize, and leave well enough alone.
- Track record of partnering with engineering to navigate technical constraints and still ship excellent work.
- Active use of AI tools in your design workflow, and a curiosity about how they're changing the craft.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build alignment with cross-functional partners.
The ideal candidate will also be fluent in English as a working language and have fluency in the following tools:
- Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, InVision, or similar prototyping and design tools.
- Experience with modern design tools and software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, or similar.
As a Staff Product Designer, you will be part of a global team that values diversity and inclusion. You will have access to continuous learning opportunities, global mobility, and benefits designed to support your growth and well-being.
Benefits include:
- Flexible paid time off and remote work policies
- Equity options
- Contributions to your pension plan
- Training opportunities to grow your skills and career
- Health and wellness credit
- Time off to volunteer and support your community
- Interest groups, employee-led networks, and social committees
- Computer purchase program
