The PDP Experience team is dedicated to one of the highest-traffic pages on the platform: the Comments page. As a key contributor, you will drive technical and product strategy, operations, architecture, and execution for a site that is a critical component of Reddit's ecosystem. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth functioning of one of Reddit's largest and most engaging areas, where conversations are not just curated, but transformed into meaningful interactions.
What You'll Do:
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as product, design, and other engineering counterparts to develop and execute on strategic and technical initiatives that align with the overall business goals and user needs. You'll be responsible for technical design, development, testing, and launching new features and products that enhance the user experience and drive engagement.
- Engage meaningfully with the team in planning and strategy discussions. Your insights and contributions will directly impact the direction and priorities of the project, ensuring that your ideas are valued and implemented.
- Participate in the development cycle, from technical design to deployment, ensuring that each component is well thought out and optimized for performance and reliability. Your ability to review code, design documentation, and provide feedback on product specs and mockups will be crucial.
- Contribute to the development of standards and best practices to improve developer workflows, and recommend improvements to the team. This includes suggesting improvements to infrastructure, tools, and processes that enhance the development experience.
- Strategize and contribute to the development of new products and features that users will love. You will be responsible for making decisions that align with the product vision and user needs, leveraging your technical expertise to drive the product forward.
- Move fast while maintaining high quality standards. You will be adept at balancing speed and quality, ensuring that the products you work on are not only innovative but also meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
- Continuously learn and improve your technical and non-technical skills. You will be encouraged to participate in learning opportunities, from attending workshops to exploring emerging technologies, to stay ahead of the curve and stay competitive in your field.
Who You Might Be:
- BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 3+ years of post-internship, full-time, hands-on, professional software development experience in large-scale distributed systems.
- Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Go, Python, Rust, Ruby.
- Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift or gRPC basics, and the ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and passionate about building new things. You thrive in ambiguity and are not afraid to face challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both in a technical and non-technical context. You collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and share complex ideas with non-technical audiences.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible for a commission.
