Speechify: Senior Software Engineer - Core Experiences Team

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will join our Core Experiences Team, responsible for building and maintaining foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify's product experience across various platforms. This role is crucial for someone who enjoys designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that enhance the user experience, while thinking strategically about integration and UX trade-offs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Speechify's Product Teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via cross-platform SDKs.
- Optimize existing functionality to enhance loading speed and intelligent parsing, designing more efficient abstractions and improving algorithms.
- Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.
Requirements
- Systems thinking skills, understanding that optimizing a system requires end-to-end design and simplicity.
- Speed, generating ideas and options quickly, and being able to decide on which things can be shipped now and which need time.
- Focus, working quickly and effectively in a high-growth startup environment with a remote team.
- Collaboration skills, inspiring, playing, and negotiating with opinionated designers, marketers, and PMs.
- Preferred Tech Stack: Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is acceptable), Prior experience with GCP is a plus.
