Auterion: Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer Opportunity

As a Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of shaping the development of leading-edge robotic products.
Responsibilities:
- Embedded Systems Development: Collaborate closely with the Board Support Team and other development teams to build and improve products. Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing the performance of software components running on AuterionOS, a custom embedded Linux distribution.
- Feature Addition and Bug Fixes: You will add new features to the system, fix bugs, and ensure the software is robust and efficient. This involves maintaining and optimizing system services and performance on embedded platforms.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Engage with engineers across Auterion to understand and solve technical issues faced by both internal and external customers.
- Technical Leadership: Propose new software solutions, take ownership of implementation, and significantly impact the market by bringing Auterion’s drone products to market.
- Customer Support: Provide expert support to customers, addressing technical issues effectively.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Write clear and concise internal documentation and contribute to the public-facing knowledge base.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in daily stand-ups, release planning, and task prioritization meetings.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in embedded systems, networking, and security.
- Technical Expertise: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is essential. 3+ years of experience with C++ and Python, as well as experience with embedded architectures, Linux command line operations, resource management, and performance optimization.
- Linux Skills: Expert knowledge of the Linux kernel, embedded device drivers, device tree configuration, and u-boot.
- System Management: Proficient in Debian/Ubuntu-based systems, understanding of systemd, and expertise in managing complex Docker environments.
- Secure Boot and OTA Updates: Knowledge of securing embedded devices with secure boot mechanisms, boot chain verification, and basic electrical engineering.
- Networking Proficiency: Proficient in network concepts, including understanding of OSI model layers, connectors, hardware interfaces, IP addressing, routing protocols, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and network diagnostic tools.
- Security Protocols: Basic experience with network security protocols like SSL/TLS, VPNs, and best practices for securing embedded devices.
- Networking and Debugging Skills: Basic electrical engineering experience, familiarity with schematics, and skills in debugging communication over I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN bus.
- Bonus Points: Experience with video streaming and MIPI CSI drivers, knowledge of NVIDIA Jetson platforms and their associated BSP packages, or NXP iMX8 platforms and their associated BSP packages.
- CI/CD Experience: Previous contributions to open-source projects, especially in the Linux ecosystem.
- Agile Experience: Experience working in an agile environment, providing daily updates in stand-ups and managing tasks in a sprint board.
- Collaborative Environment: A product-oriented mindset, eagerness to drive forward project initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
- 3+ years of experience writing object-oriented C++ and/or Python code.
- Extensive experience working with embedded architectures, including cross-compilation, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Expert Linux skills, command line operations, resource management, system services, and networking.
