Aufgaben

In einem multidisziplinären Projekt zusammen mit dem Makerspace der Ruhr-Universität Bochum entwickelst du intelligente Systeme, die Gegenstände/ Materialien automatisch erkennen und für eine Weiterverwendung zugänglich machen. Du arbeitest an der Schnittstelle von KI, Hardware und Webanwendungen und bringst eigene Ideen aktiv in die Umsetzung ein. Dabei kombinierst du Softwareentwicklung mit praktischer Arbeit an Sensorik und Kamerasystemen. Ziel ist es, eine funktionierende Gesamtlösung aus KI-Modell, Erfassungssystem und Benutzeroberfläche aufzubauen.

• Entwicklung und Training von KI-Modellen im Bereich Image Recognition / Computer Vision.
• Aufbau und Optimierung von Datensätzen für die Objekterkennung.
• Entwicklung einer Web-App (plus Datenbank) zur Visualisierung und Interaktion mit den erkannten Objekten.
• Integration von KI-Modellen in eine lauffähige Systemarchitektur.
• Konzeption und Aufbau eines Kamera- und Sensorsystems zur Datenerfassung.
• Durchführung von Tests im realen Umfeld.
• Optimierung von Performance, Genauigkeit und Echtzeitfähigkeit der Systeme.
• (Optional) Unterstützung beim Prototyping von der eingesetzten Hardware.

Qualifikation

Du bringst ein solides technisches Fundament mit und hast Lust, KI nicht nur am Rechner, sondern auch in der realen Welt umzusetzen. Idealerweise kombinierst du Softwareentwicklung mit einem Verständnis für Hardware und hast Freude daran, Systeme ganzheitlich zu denken – von der Datenerfassung bis zur Anwendung für den Nutzer.

• Studium im Bereich Informatik, KI, Data Science, Elektrotechnik oder vergleichbar.
• Gute Kenntnisse im Bereich Image Recognition / Computer Vision (z. B. mit PyTorch oder TensorFlow).
• Erfahrung im Training und der Optimierung von KI-Modellen sowie im Umgang mit Datensätzen.
• Kenntnisse in der Entwicklung von Web-Apps (Frontend + Backend).
• Erfahrung mit mindestens einem gängigen Framework wie z. B. React, Angular, oder Node.js.
• Verständnis für die Anbindung von Webanwendungen an externe Systeme (APIs, Datenbanken, Echtzeitdaten).
• Grundlegendes Verständnis von Hardwarekomponenten (z. B. Kameras, Mikrocontroller, Edge Devices wie Raspberry Pi).
• Selbstständige und strukturierte Arbeitsweise sowie Freude am Prototyping.
