Revolutionizing Software Development: A New Role for the Modern Engineer
Bytes & Pixels, a Munich-based startup, is redefining the traditional software development process with a shift towards artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. We are on the cusp of a significant transformation, transitioning from the tedious, line-by-line programming of the past to a more agile and productive approach that leverages AI coding tools to streamline the development process. This role is designed to lead the charge, bridging the gap between traditional engineering skills and cutting-edge AI capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship features on client projects and our own products, including mobile AI apps, using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
- Work agent-first: use AI coding tools to move fast, then review and harden what the agents produce.
- Read and debug code you did not write, including code an agents generated.
- Turn loose requirements into working software with tight feedback loops.
- Own small pieces end-to-end, from first draft to live, with senior support when you need it.
Qualifications
- A degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid fundamentals in TypeScript, React, and Node.js. You have built things with them, at work, in study, or on your own projects.
- Real hands-on experience with AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar). This is a must-have, not a bonus. We want to see that you already build with these and have opinions about where they help and where they don't.
- The instinct to verify rather than trust. You check what the agents give you instead of pasting it blind.
- Clear communication. You can explain what you built and why.
- Fluent English. German is a bonus.
Nice to have:
- Side projects, open-source contributions, or anything you shipped that we can look at
- Exposure to databases, APIs, or cloud deployment
