Seqana is on a mission to measure and quantify the impact of regenerative agriculture through soil carbon monitoring, with the help of cutting-edge satellite imagery, soil data, and machine learning. We are seeking a People & Operations Manager to drive the growth and development of our team and implement effective operational strategies that foster a positive work environment.
Job Responsibilities
The People & Operations Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining a robust HR system, developing clear frameworks for development and progression, and establishing a structured hiring process. The role will also encompass shaping how feedback is given, fostering a supportive and inclusive team culture, and ensuring that the company’s values are consistently put into practice. This includes organizing team gatherings and leading the annual off-site event, as well as keeping the office in Kreuzberg, Berlin, welcoming and running smoothly.
Additionally, the role requires creating a framework for compensation and benefits, including competitive salaries and a permanent, full-time contract. The manager will also manage visa and immigration cases and coordinate with our lawyer to ensure all legal requirements are met. This involves overseeing the annual employee training budget and offering flexible working hours, home office days, and a casual, pet-friendly office environment.
As the People & Operations Manager, you will be responsible for hiring end-to-end, from defining job descriptions and sourcing candidates to conducting thorough interviews, offer negotiations, and finalizing contracts. You will ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires and a clear offboarding process to ensure a smooth transition for departing employees. The manager will also be responsible for setting up an employee tool stack, including licenses, accounts, and cost management. The role will require coordination of payroll with the tax firm and employer of record provider, managing travel expense processes, and overseeing the VSOP (Voluntary Social Insurance Protection) program.
Furthermore, the manager will be responsible for coordinating team gatherings, including standups, All-Hands meetings, and Thursday hangouts, as well as leading the annual off-site event. This includes building an employer brand and ensuring that the right people find the company. The manager will also lead the employee lifecycle, including the onboarding and offboarding processes, and ensure that the company’s values are consistently put into practice.

Requirements

The candidate should have experience in building processes, systems, and frameworks from scratch and have a track record of successfully implementing them in a practical manner. They should also have experience in hiring, office management, and event planning.
