Birdrave GmbH is a small, engineering-driven team based in Berlin that builds software with passion. We build powerful platforms for complex use cases, from running the backbone of a massage studio powerhouse to powering multi-million dollar sports betting platforms. On top of that, we support early-stage companies in building their products. AI isn't a buzzword for us, it's a core part of our daily workflow. We experiment with it, integrate it, and build with it.

Aufgaben

As a Senior Frontend Engineer (f/m/d) at Birdrave, you're not just shipping features – you're shaping how we build. We expect you to take ownership of architecture decisions, push for improvements, and present your thinking to the team. Feedback flows in both directions, and technical debates are part of the daily rhythm.

AI is a must, not a nice-to-have. Even in a frontend role, we expect you to use AI tools to pull context from backend repositories, understand systems end-to-end, and move faster than traditional frontend-backend boundaries would allow. If "AI-assisted development" still sounds novel to you, this role isn't the right fit.

What you'll do

• Own the architecture and implementation of our frontend systems built on React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS
• Drive technical direction – propose improvements, present architectural decisions, and defend them in team discussions
• Use AI tooling daily to gather context across codebases (including backend repos) and accelerate your work
• Collaborate with designers to ship polished, responsive interfaces that feel right
• Optimize for performance, scalability, and rendering efficiency at a level that matches production-grade products
• Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs, taking the time to understand the backend rather than treating it as a black box
• Lead code reviews with substance – give clear, actionable feedback and expect the same in return
• Mentor less experienced developers and raise the technical bar of the team

Qualifikation

• 5+ years of professional frontend development experience
• Strong proficiency in React.js and its core principles
• Extensive experience with Next.js, including SSR and modern rendering patterns
• Expert-level knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3
• Professional experience with TypeScript and static typing
• Proficient in asynchronous data fetching and server-state management (SWR, React-Query)
• Skilled in Tailwind CSS for building responsive, maintainable designs
• Solid understanding of web performance optimization
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Active, daily use of AI tools in your development workflow – including for exploring and understanding unfamiliar codebases
• Strong communication skills: you can explain, defend, and adjust your thinking in front of a team
• Hands-on experience with testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library) familiarity with GraphQL and REST API design. Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG) experience with state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, or similar)
